RAPID INTERVENTION LEVEL III, RIT UNDER LIVE FIRE CONDITIONS

This 8-hour class is the culmination of the RIT Levels I and II training, plus the RIT Operations Officers Class. The class is designed to test the student’s abilities in the locating and removal of a down firefighter while operating under live fire conditions.

The students, who must have completed the prerequisite training, will under instructor oversight, fulfill the roles of RIT Command, RIT Officers, and RIT Firefighters.

All live fire operations will be conducted under strict adherence to the NFPA 1403 live burn standard. Each evolution has a pre-operation discussion, conduction of the operation, followed by a post-incident discussion. Those who have participated in the RIT Operations Officers class will be given the further opportunity to be taught TIC usage and interpretation under fire, smoke and heat conditions.

Each session can accommodate up to 32 students, 12 for Command and Safety roles and 20 to fulfill the roles of RIT company officer and RIT firefighters.

RIT III is an excellent opportunity to allow those who participate to bring their skills to the performance level. It will also give the students the opportunity to enhance their skills in other areas such as SCBA.

The class is very physical and requires the use of full PPE.
